Radius Gold Targets Year-End Drilling After Peruvian Exploration Approval

The administrative red tape in southern Peru has officially been cut.

Radius Gold Inc. (TSXV: RDU / OTCQB: RDUFF) has cleared its final regulatory hurdle, securing formal authorization from regional mining authorities to launch exploration activities and its inaugural drill program at the Tierra Roja copper project.

The authorization, issued by the Gerencia Regional de Energía y Minas (GREM) of the Regional Government of Arequipa, permits Radius Gold to initiate exploration on the Ferruginosa I-400 concession, the flagship target area of the Tierra Roja project. Situated in the district of Ático within the Caravelí Province, Tierra Roja rests on unoccupied state land, a setup that required the company to navigate a multi-tiered permitting framework involving environmental approvals, surface rights, and final mining ministry clearance.

The journey to final approval included a brief administrative plot twist earlier this year. Although environmental permits were granted in 2025 and technical reviews were approved in early 2026, the final authorization hit a temporary pause when the Superintendencia Nacional de Bienes Estatales (SBN) raised an observation regarding project coordinates. Radius Gold appealed the observation, won the appeal, and secured provisional surface access, enabling field work to proceed while the definitive surface easement is finalized.

With legal pathing cleared, operational preparations are shifting into high gear. Radius Gold is currently negotiating drilling contracts, setting up a field camp, and preparing ground access, with the explicit goal of getting drill rigs turning before the end of 2026. Expressing relief and momentum, Dr. Luke Longridge, President of Radius Gold, stated that management is extremely pleased to finally possess all required authorizations following the surface right delay, emphasizing that the team is eager to test the target and actively arranging to begin operations as soon as possible.

In tandem with drill preparation, Radius Gold Inc. (TSXV: RDU / OTCQB: RDUFF) has completed an expanded rock-chip geochemical sampling sweep across broader areas of the property beyond the core zone, with lab assays pending. To overcome the thick layer of caliche covering much of the property, the technical team is also evaluating shallow percussion drilling and auger sampling techniques to directly sample the underlying geology.
