IBM takes first step into the digital payment arena
The acquisition of fintech company Expertus marks the entry into the payment sector.

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announces that it has acquired the fintech company Expertus Technologies on undisclosed terms. Expertus will be added to the company's Global Business Services unit to expand its hybrid cloud solutions for digital payments. "Financial institutions need to strike a balance between increasing demand for secure digital solutions and complying with rapidly evolving regulations," said Mark Foster, SVP, IBM Services. "Expertus' Payment-as-a-Service solution expands our hybrid cloud-based payment offering and transforms payment transactions and treasury management with AI to give financial institutions the flexibility to innovate quickly and stay competitive when the Change customer requirements. " The Expertus platform is used by more than 1,000 financial services companies and organizations around the world to process an average of over $ 50 billion in payments daily. Expertus is also one of the largest service bureaus in North America for the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Transactions, a network used by banks to process money transfers and treasury transactions.
