Google to open its first physical store in New York
The Alphabet subsidiary plans on selling physical products like Kindles or Pixelbooks there.

Alphabet Inc.'s Google will open its first physical store in New York to sell Pixelbooks, Fitbit devices, Next Products, and Pixel Phones. The physical store will be positioned below its offices in the Chelsea neighborhood this summer. Google will hire experts to assist with installs, fix cracked pixel screens, and troubleshoot customers' problems. It's an essential step in Google's journey to hardware. Google also said that several customers want to try their hardware before making a purchase decision. According to the previous announcement, Google generates billions of dollars from its hardware sales. Over the years, Google opened temporary hardware stores in cities like London, Chicago, and New York to give customers the opportunity to try out their hardware and make a purchase decision. Previous locations included a Pac-Man game display on a big screen and a doodle wall to keep customers fun. Previously, Google relied on Amazon and Best Buy as well as its website to market its products. Apple had success opening retail stores around the world. However, other companies were unable to succeed. Microsoft created its retail chain by opening physical stores so customers could experience its hardware and software. However, in the summer the company announced plans to close its 83 stores and focus on selling its products. According to a statement published on Thursday, an antitrust agency in Italy fined the search giant $ 123 million for abusing its dominant position on Google Play and Android Mobile OS. The regulator said Google took advantage of its dominant position to control the reach of app developers. Google did not allow electric car drivers to charge their vehicles using the Italy-based app JuicePass, an electric vehicle service app. The ruling instructed Google to allow the use of Juice Pass on Android. Waymo, Google's self-driving unit, plans to raise $ 4 billion from outside investors. The company uses driverless cars for its ride-hailing services in Phoenix, Arizona. Waymo plans to invest the proceeds in the self-driving business. The company has already raised $ 3.25 billion from AutoNation in 2020.
