Finding high-grade nickel in North America usually requires years of poking around in the dark, but Perseverance Metals Inc. (TSXV: PMI / OTCQB: PMIXF) just hit the geological mark on its third attempt.
The junior explorer announced a blind discovery at its Voyageur Project in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, intersecting a magmatic nickel- and copper-sulphide-bearing intrusion at its Osprey target. For a region quietly positioning itself as a strategic critical minerals hub, the timing is remarkably sharp.
The initial four-hole diamond drill program targeted a completely blind geophysical anomaly located roughly 65 kilometers west of the producing Eagle Mine, previously operated by Lundin Mining Corporation (TSX: LUN / OTCQX: LUNMF) before its sale to Talon Metals Corp. (TSX: TLO / OTCQX: TLOFF). Three of those four holes punched directly into a mafic-ultramafic intrusion measuring up to 50 meters thick across three distinct igneous phases. Most notably, the basal coarse-grained peridotite phase yielded 3% to 8% magmatic sulphides. Field screening using portable XRF confirmed the presence of copper and nickel, with visual core logging identifying chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, and likely pentlandite.
