Nokia announces cooperation with Tampere University
The parties agree to focus on developing a new generation of 5G chips.
Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is partnering with Tampere University of Finland to promote the development of custom system-on-chip processors for its ReefShark chipset portfolio. The partnership will improve NOK's silicon capabilities and the development of proprietary SoCs. Nokia will also explore areas such as machine learning, AI and security hardware development, and SoCs based on open source hardware. The center is expected to open in November this year.
