Are you an Apple or Android user? Then the majority of your most-used applications on your phone are made by Google and Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL). The new Comscore study evaluates the popularity of pre-installed applications for Android and iOS, as well as applications from other developers. Ultimately, the results show that most people in the United States have pre-installed apps on their phones from either Apple or Google. Also, the first report was commissioned by one of Apple's loudest analysts, Facebook. According to the report, such pre-installed services completely dominate when it comes to basic apps like clocks, photos, and weather - furthermore, the report suggests that other apps will have a hard time competing with them. Facebook, Inc. (NASDAQ: FB) intends to put Apple and Google under increasing scrutiny to support their own pre-installed services over competitors. Additionally, U.S. lawmakers are currently considering a new set of bills drafted to deter the strength of big tech, along with the constitution that could prevent Google and Apple from offering their services against competitors. Some of their competitors think it is unfair for Google and Apple to bundle their services with their mobile operating system. In addition, this criticism is serious against iOS, as it controls the applications that are preinstalled on the phone more tightly and does not let the developers evade its app store. Likewise, it's hard to see how well known these apps are from their service compared to the third-party apps, as Google and Apple don't disclose consumer numbers for their preinstalled apps. There is also a research organization that tracks the popularity of the downloadable applications. Still, Comscore's study is the first bold attempt to see how pre-installed applications compete with other developers. Apple disagreed with the result of the report. Apple called the report "seriously flawed". However, an Apple spokesperson said a tightly modified survey gives an inaccurate impression. He also added that the third-party applications rival Apple's applications in every category and admired the success.
