Israel confirms link between Pfizer vaccine and myocarditis

On Tuesday, the Israel Ministry of Health said cases of heart infections are reported in some young men who took the Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) vaccine. However, Pfizer said it found no relationship between these heart inflammation cases found in Israel to its vaccine. In its statement, Pfizer said it thoroughly reviewed the adverse events and it periodically reviews the data with the help of the Vaccine Safety Division of the Israel Ministry of Health. The Israeli ministry statement said it found 275 cases of myocarditis among more than 5 million people vaccinated from December 2020 to May 2021 in Israel. According to the study, which was conducted by health professionals, those who developed heart inflammation spent less than four days in health centers. The study also mentions a link between the second and myocarditis cases in men between 16 and 30. In fact, according to the study, more myocarditis cases were reported in men between 16 and 19 years of age than in other age groups. The U.S. advisory group Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggested further exploring the association between myocarditis and mRNA vaccines such as Pfizer and Moderna Inc (Nasdaq: MRNA). In a meeting on May 24, the CDC said the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) data is reporting more cases of myocarditis or pericarditis between the ages of 16 and 24 years. However, the advisory group said that the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) data did not report any cases of myocarditis or pericarditis after the COVID-19 vaccination. Nine health care organizations are sources for the VSD. The VSD compares the data from all these nine health organizations with those of the vaccinated and unvaccinated populations. According to Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, children should be vaccinated by their parents. He also said the link between myocarditis and Covid vaccine is theoretical and has not yet been proven.
