The Governor of New Jersey announces new cannabis legalisation bill
A new framework is supposed to be set up over the coming weeks.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy along with state lawmakers recently approved the state's recreational marijuana framework. "We are proud to announce today that we have reached agreement on the legislation that will provide the framework for legalization, which is a crucial step in reducing the racial and social injustices that have long plagued our criminal justice system," said the governor's office to CBS2. According to CBS2, 37 breeders will be allowed in the first two years and 70% of the sales tax will go to social justice programs. "We cannot let people get out of prison with nowhere to go and hope that they do something other than what they did to get into prison in the first place," said State Senator Nick Scutari. Scutari has asid the legislation will decriminalize the possession of marijuana of six ounces or less and will also lower the penalties of psychedelic mushrooms to an offense. "We're going to have a separate bill that will downgrade magic mushroom possession from three to five years in state prison to up to six months in prison," Scutari said. "Getting arrested for a little bag is stupid," Cecilia Lisa of Hoboken told CBS2. "I have a feeling that marijuana is such a common drug in society nowadays, as if our resources could go elsewhere," local resident Hope Narozniak told the broadcaster. The legislature is expected to officially vote on the deal before the month ends.
