US House votes on Cannabis legalisation on state level
The upcoming vote could finally legalize cannabis federally.

As the world of cannabis becomes more and more regulated, better cannabis reform is a must. During the election, Vice President-elect Karmala Harris made a promise to legalize cannabis at the federal level. This promise could now be fulfilled in the near future. A bill to legalize marijuana at the federal level will be put to the vote next week. This bill is known as the Marihuana Opportunity, Reinvestment, and Expungement, or the (MORE) Act. This bill should be voted on before the end of the year. The MORE Act would not only erase previous criminal records of people with cannabis charges, it would also remove marijuana entirely from the list of state-controlled substances. Additionally, the MORE bill would also include a tax on sales that would be reinvested in areas hardest hit by the drug war. That would be of great help in rehabilitating some of these communities. Federal legalization would be a long overdue victory for those who were on the front lines of cannabis reform in America. During this time, the MORE Act will be presented to the House Rules Committee for the House of Representatives to make changes to the bill before it is put to a vote. House majority leader Steny Hoyer said the bill should be voted on in September. However, due to certain political issues, this matter was postponed.
