Nextleaf Solutions is on the verge to becoming a pharmaceutical company
The Cannabis player now owns a number of important patents in the industry.

Nextleaf Solutions Ltd. ("Nextleaf", "OILS", or the "Company") (CSE: OILS) (OTCQB: OILFF) (FSE: L0MA), Canada's Most Innovative Cannabis Extractor, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office announced the company granted a patent for the acetylation of cannabinoids. More specifically, the patent describes a process for acetylating delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol ("THC") and then refining it to THC-O-acetate using salting-out assisted liquid-liquid extraction and distillation processes. "Nextleaf's patented process produces THC-O-Acetate, a cannabinoid-derived metabolic precursor drug with potentially very unique medical benefits coupled with efficient and targeted drug delivery. Anecdotes tell of gradual onset, longer-lasting benefits, and altered psychological effects in the Compared to THC, "explains Ryan Ko, chief technology officer. Prodrugs make use of various physical and chemical modifications to improve the properties of active drugs. Maintaining the integrity of the molecule and its ability to deliver drugs to specific locations in the body can significantly reduce the amounts used for desired effects and reduce unintended side effects. "With this new US patent, we are able to efficiently modify and possibly improve the medicinal properties of a natural product that has been in use for thousands of years," explains Paul Pedersen, CEO, "As large pharmaceutical companies are in this field want to advance, we believe that such IP-protected processes and the resulting products will attract a lot of attention ". The company expects opportunities to commercialize this patent through IP licenses to pharmaceutical companies or to manufacture IP-protected cannabinoid products where jurisdiction allows. OILS began in December 2019 with royalty income generated from its patent portfolio. OILS is Canada's most innovative cannabis extractor, developing technology to extract and distill THC and CBD oils. Nextleaf has a portfolio of 14 issued and over 60 pending patents for the extraction, purification and formulation of cannabinoids. The company's industrial-scale extraction and purification facility in Coquitlam, B.C. is designed to process 600 kg of dried cannabis biomass per day into refined oils. Nextleaf Solutions markets its patent portfolio through IP licenses and supplies THC and CBD oils through Nextleaf Labs, a standard processor licensed by Health Canada. Nextleaf Solutions is listed as OILS on the Canadian Stock Exchange, OILFF on the OTCQB market in the United States and L0MA on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
