MAX Power Appoints Former Cabinet Minister Rob Norris as CEO Amid Commercialization Push and U.S. Listing Review
Former Saskatchewan cabinet minister Rob Norris takes the helm at MAX Power to drive Lawson well completions, court U.S. institutional capital, and commercialize natural hydrogen alongside soaring AI power demand.

Mother Nature may generate hydrogen deep within the Earth's crust free of charge, but transforming subsurface seeps into commercial pipeline molecules requires an exacting mix of heavy engineering, policy navigation, and Wall Street liquidity.
With drill rigs standing down and testing crews preparing to mobilize, MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF) is overhauling its corporate engine room just as its prairie exploration acreage approaches its most defining operational test.
At the center of the leadership realignment is Rob Norris, a former Saskatchewan cabinet minister and board director who takes the reins as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Norris brings the sort of Rolodex usually cultivated in provincial legislative corridors, having held senior cabinet portfolios covering SaskPower, Innovation, and Advanced Education during the Brad Wall administration. His policy footprint stretches across flagship regional energy endeavors, including the Boundary Dam Carbon Capture Project and Saskatoon’s Canadian Light Source Synchrotron.
Norris succeeds Ran Narayanasamy, who shifts into the newly minted role of Managing Director, Innovation and International Strategy. Narayanasamy, who steered the company through its initial discovery well and follow-up drilling at the Lawson prospect, will now focus on technological acceleration and coordinating fourth-quarter site visits for international energy operators sizing up the Saskatchewan play.
Board Chairman Neil McMillan, who spent 16 years inside uranium heavyweight Cameco Corporation (TSX: CCO; NYSE: CCJ), noted that the velocity of the natural hydrogen transition is unlike anything he has witnessed in the resource sector. According to McMillan, Norris’s strategic and communication background will serve as a primary catalyst as the company assesses a dual listing on a major United States stock exchange to expand trading liquidity and court American institutional capital.
Norris assumes operational command at a pivotal technical moment. MAX Power is scheduled to initiate a critical completions program during the second half of October across its Lawson discovery and the Bracken prospect within the Grasslands Project, situated 325 kilometers southwest along the Genesis Trend. Deep drilling at Lawson previously identified Canada’s first confirmed subsurface natural hydrogen system, validated across three independent testing laboratories.
The upcoming completions phase will test the core geological variables required to validate commerciality: sustained flow rates, gas concentrations, reservoir pressures, and deliverability across the company's approximately 2.5-million-acre permitted land position.
To convert subsurface data into industrial reality, the company has added deep bench strength to its technical roster. Tom Kishchuk, former President and CEO of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Canada Ltd. and former Vice President of Operational Support at Federated Co-operatives Limited, steps in as Chief Technology Officer. Kishchuk brings over three decades of energy-systems leadership to guide what management calls its "months to molecules" commercial strategy.
Complementing the engineering team is Dr. Brendan Bishop, who joins as Chief Geochemist. A Governor General’s Gold Medalist from the University of Regina with research affiliations spanning the Geological Survey of Canada and the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin, Bishop will lead isotopic fingerprinting of hydrogen and associated helium to map migration pathways throughout the basin.
The operational push arrives against an acute power crunch driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure. Saskatchewan has logged more than 30 data center proposals under provincial regulations that require power-intensive developers to supply their own electricity off-grid.
Immediately adjacent to MAX Power’s Genesis Trend, telecommunications provider BCE Inc. (TSX: BCE; NYSE: BCE) is advancing plans for a 1.2-gigawatt AI infrastructure hub, adding up to 900 megawatts of capacity to a 300-megawatt project already under construction. If natural hydrogen flow testing establishes scalable production close to these planned industrial corridors, the gas could represent a baseload, zero-carbon alternative to traditional generation.
Exploration efficiency is also leaning on silicon. MAX Power is preparing a commercial rollout plan for its proprietary exploration targeting platform, MAXX LEMI, which integrates geology, geophysics, and geochemical data through machine learning algorithms. Enterprise IT giant Kyndryl Holdings Inc. (NYSE: KD) is currently finalizing a go-to-market strategy to assess how the platform can be deployed commercially across global hydrogen and critical mineral frontiers. The company also maintains portfolio diversification through an equity stake in Homeland Critical Minerals, which controls the Willcox lithium project in Arizona.
To ensure the technical narrative translates into capital markets awareness, MAX Power has engaged Austin-based communications specialist InvestorBrandNetwork under a 90-day agreement through early January 2027, backed by a $500,000 USD cash commitment. The campaign is structured to enhance executive visibility and retail exposure while management works through the prerequisites for a potential U.S. exchange listing.
European investors will get an early look at the restructured leadership team in November, when company executives take a prominent stage at the HNAT Natural Hydrogen Summit in Paris, pitching Saskatchewan’s deep basin potential to an international audience hungry for domestic energy security.
