iPhones get payment function
Stripe and Shopify will use Apple's service first

Later this year, Apple will introduce a new feature to accept credit card and other digital payments with the tap of an iPhone. This allows hardware systems such as Block Inc.'s Square terminals to be bypassed. "Apple sees payments as an important standalone business for the company and wants to grow it," said Shannon Cross, an analyst at Cross Research.
The feature will use NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, including between iPhones, Apple said Tuesday. The company added that it doesn't know what is being bought or who is buying it, emphasizing the privacy feature of the service.
Fintech services Stripe and Shopify Point will be the first to offer this "tap to pay" feature for business customers in the US later this spring, the companies said in a joint statement (https://apple.co/3HAASte ).
Billy Alvarado, Stripe's Chief Business Officer: "Whether you're a seller at an online retailer or a sole trader, you'll soon be able to accept contactless payments with a device you already have in your pocket: your iPhone."
In any case, Apple has strengthened its fintech services. It launched its own credit card with Goldman Sachs (2019) and is also reportedly working on a "buy now, pay later" service.
