Aurora Cannabis sends first shipment of legal cannabis to France

The Canadian company Aurora Cannabis has delivered its first shipment of medical marijuana to France through a subsidiary, which will be used as part of the pilot program there. The company announced this this week. According to reports, the country's program is slated to begin dispensing medical cannabis to patients for free in the coming weeks. Other countries have been selected to supply products including Australia, Canada, Israel and the UK, in partnership with French pharmaceutical distributors. The products are to be distributed to up to 3,000 patients. The medical marijuana is supplied by the participating companies at their own expense and neither the government nor the patients have to pay for it. "The first prescriptions of dried medical cannabis under the French pilot program are an important step in providing patient access and will help de-stigmatize medical cannabis in France," said Aurora CEO Miguel Martin. The company's Danish subsidiary, Aurora Nordic, produces the dried flower, which is shipped to France via Aurora’s European distribution center in Berlin.
