Codelco reaches agreement with local labour unions
The Chilean miner can just avoid strikes at the Radomiro Tomic mine.

Chile's state-owned copper producer Codelco announced on Thursday that an early contract had been reached with the union at the Radomiro Tomic mine. The 36-month agreement does not affect salaries, but includes graduation bonuses equivalent to about $ 4,800 per worker. "The agreement with Radomiro Tomic's oversight also sets out variable incentives that take effect in meeting productivity and costs and contributing resources to the state," the company said in a statement. Codelco largely kept production going during the COVID-19 outbreak by downsizing, adjusting schedules and temporarily postponing projects at the height of the pandemic.
