Cannabigerol should be in the focus of investors now

First discovered in the 1960s, cannabigerol (CBG), a once-rare, non-psychoactive molecule from which hundreds of other cannabinoids are derived, has recently gained momentum than more companies and brands like Avicanna Inc. (TSX: AVCN ) Learned about the therapeutic benefits of the molecule in over-the-counter and pharmaceutical applications.

According to recent research by Avicanna, CBG has similar properties to CBD and acts as a competitive partial agonist for cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system and immune cells. Commenting on the molecule, Avicanna CEO Aras Azadian said: "We know from our own research that CBG has a higher affinity for endocannabinoid system receptors (EDC) and has significant potential in many disease areas. In the tests, the molecule acts as an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial agent that regulates mood and relieves illness-related pain.

Despite the immense benefits of CBG, many companies find it difficult to manufacture because it is rarely produced in common cultivars. "It takes thousands of pounds of biomass to make small amounts of CBG isolate," James Rowland, CEO of Steve's Goods, told Forbes. "This is because most hemp contains only small percentages of CBG, whereas today there are hemp varieties that have 20% CBD in the crop.

If the CBG content of the same crop is only 1%, it means you have the Must extract 20 times the amount of biomass to get the same amount of CBG.
