For Tesla the Chinese market again proves vital

While operations at its Fremont facility slowed in the second quarter due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tesla Inc. The Gigafactory Shanghai continued to produce Model 3. Tesla fansite Tesmanian compiled data on Tesla's Model 3 sales for June and found that the company sold far more electric cars than any other company in Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai. This is despite the fact that EV sales have decreased by 34.9% year on year. Tesla sold 1,651, 1,808, and 2,790 Model 3s in each city, versus the next highest sales of 580, 373, and 332 vehicles by any leading competitor per city. Tesmanian collected the data via the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) license plate report.
