Sumitomo and IAMGOLD with large gold discovery in Ontario
The two miners discover a large gold and silver mineralisation.

Sumitomo Metal Mining and IAMGOLD today confirmed significant gold mineralization from an exploration program in the Gosselin and Young-Shannon Zones, located approximately 1.5 kilometers northeast of the Côté Gold Project in Ontario, Canada. Highlights of the drill results include 417.3 meters grading 0.95 g / t Au, 353.0 meters grading 1.04 g / t Au and 86.0 meters grading 5.57 g / t Au. Sumitomo and IAMGOLD are planning an additional drilling campaign totaling approximately 14,500 meters to demarcate the mineralized zone and support the first resource estimate, which is expected to be completed in 2021. The partners believe that these results will add value to the Côté gold project through the use of facilities currently under construction. Sumitomo joined the exploration project (claim area approx. 521 km2) in 2017 as part of the Côté gold project. Construction on the Côté gold project is proceeding according to plan and is expected to be completed in 2023.
