Mercedes-Benz to supply Amazon with a larger EV fleet

The big boys on Wall Street are doing a lot to keep their shareholders happy. While the government seems to be bailing out airlines and the tech sector, do small businesses need a helping hand too? To improve cash flow, small businesses should also reduce their overdue receivables. A "small business debt collection agency" can help collect overdue accounts receivable while trying to maintain business relationships with your customer. Amazon.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) has placed an order with Mercedes-Benz for 1,800 electric delivery vans for its delivery fleet in Europe. This is part of its commitment to neutralizing carbon emissions by 2040. The latest move is part of Amazon's relentless drive to increase its retail deliveries in Europe and step up its e-commerce. The company will use renewable energies and protect the environment by using zero-emission vehicles in its fleet. Amazon announced that it will put a majority of the electric delivery vans received from the auto and delivery truck division of DAIMLER AG (OTCMKTS: DMLRY) into service in 2020. In addition, Amazon has placed an order for 600 medium-sized Vitos and 1,200 larger eSprinter models from Mercedes-Benz. This is the largest ever order for electric vehicles for Mercedes-Benz, which has orders for 500 electric vans for the British and 800 for the German market. It's a small deal for the company, however, as Amazon recently placed an order for 100,000 electric vans for a startup company, Rivian Automotive LLC. Rivian will start production next year and complete the order by 2030. Amazon has also placed an order for Deutsche Post's StreetScooter unit for 60 charging stations and 40 EVs. Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, said the agreement with Daimler is part of Daimler's drive to build a sustainable fleet for transportation around the world. The automaker - Mercedes-Benz has already announced that it will achieve a carbon-free fleet by 2039. On Friday, the company formally joined the climate pledge. Amazon announced last year that it would build a carbon-neutral fleet by 2040. Amazon received 20,000 non-electric Sprinters from Mercedes-Benz in 2018 for its delivery companies. Amazon's Director (Global Fleet) Ross Rachey said the company will prioritize adding more vehicles in the future. Other companies pushing to add electric vehicles to their fleet include United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE: UPS), which announced in January 2020 that it had placed an order for 10,000 delivery vans with Arrival Ltd. Like Ford Motor Co., Daimler’s competitors are also planning to launch fully electric transit vans in North America in 2022. General Motors Co plans to manufacture electric vans towards the end of next year.
