IAMGOLD is facing difficulties selling its Mali gold mine
Amidst the current political turmoil, the miner is looking for ways to rid itself from the Sadiola mine.

Canada's Iamgold Corp has delayed the sales process for its Sadiola gold mine in Mali due to political instability in the country, a spokeswoman said Thursday. Iamgold said in December that it had reached an agreement to sell its 41% interest in the mine, a joint venture with AngloGold Ashanti Ltd, to Allied Gold Corp. met. Mali's President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita resigned on Tuesday and dissolved parliament hours after soldiers held him at gunpoint and took power in a coup. We find that the only open matter is the signature of the ruling government agencies; Iamgold spokeswoman Indi Gopinathan said this in an email. She did not provide a cost estimate for the deal. The government of Mali has an 18% interest in the mine. As the fourth largest gold producer in Africa, production in Mali rose from 66.8 tons in the previous year to 71.1 tons in 2019, the government said.
