How MP Materials is Securing the U.S. Supply Chain with a New $1.25 Billion Texas Mega-Campus
With a massive $1.25 billion investment and Pentagon backing, MP Materials is transforming North Texas into the epicenter of America's tech and defense supply chain to end reliance on foreign critical minerals.
Forget the silicon; it is time to talk about the high-powered magnets running everything from AI data centers to advanced defense drones. Today, MP Materials Corp. (NYSE: MP) decided to plant a massive, 120-acre flag in Northlake, Texas, announcing the development of “10X,” a colossal new rare earth magnet manufacturing campus. Backed by an eye-watering investment of over $1.25 billion, this facility isn't just a win for the Lone Star State’s economy, it is a deeply strategic, heavily funded play to rip the United States' critical supply chain away from foreign reliance.
Located a mere ten miles from the company's existing Independence facility in Fort Worth, 10X is poised to transform North Texas into the undisputed center of gravity for America's rare earth magnet production. Once the facility boots up for commissioning in 2028, it is expected to pump out approximately 10,000 metric tons of NdFeB (Neodymium-iron-boron) rare earth magnets annually. In the process, the campus will create over 1,500 direct manufacturing and engineering jobs, proving that domestic hardware and component production is making a serious comeback. Groundbreaking is expected to happen imminently, with engineering and equipment procurement already well underway.
