Fords starts construction of its rouge complex plant
The American car manufacturer plans to produce its EV fleet at the new facility.

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) broke ground for their F-150 electric pickup at their Michigan electric vehicle manufacturing facility. The manufacturing facility is located in their historic Rouge complex in Dearborn, Michigan and is expected to begin production of the electric pickup truck in 2022. The automaker said the manufacturing facility was part of its $ 700 million investment in the Rouge manufacturing complex. Most of the F-150 pickup trucks for the US market are currently manufactured there. After completion of the plant, it will employ around 300 new employees. Ford plans to launch a new version of the F-150 model in 2021. Production of new trucks in hybrid and combustion versions has already started at the Dearborn Truck Facility. Production for the all-electric F-150 will begin in mid-2022, but Ford has yet to provide details. However, it has been confirmed that the pickup truck will have a twin-engine design with more torque and horsepower than the current F-150. It will also have a huge front trunk in the room that usually has an internal combustion engine. The release date of the F-150 electric pickup truck means it will debut after other competitors hit the road. General Motors (NYSE: GM) Hummer pickup and Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) Cybertruck are expected to launch next year while electric vehicle startup Rivian plans to launch its first EV Trucks to be delivered early next year as production is delayed due to COVID-19. The upgrade of the Rouge complex is part of Ford’s recent efforts to add more electric vehicles to its offering. The company has stated that it plans to spend around $ 11.5 billion to produce over a dozen electric vehicle models and hybrids by 2022. The hybrid and battery-powered F-150 is part of his foray into electric vehicles. The company will launch the Mustang Mach electric SUV later this year and has already invested $ 500 million in EV startup Rivian.
