Equinox Gold Receives Key BLM Approval for Nevada’s South Railroad Project
How federal permitting speed in Nevada and post-merger scale are clearing the path for Canada’s newest senior gold producer to hit 1.9 million ounces.

Bureaucratic wheels rarely turn quickly, but when federal regulators cleared the runway for Nevada’s South Railroad project, Equinox Gold Corp. (TSX: EQX | NYSE American: EQX) officially signaled that its expansion engine is firing on all cylinders.
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management issued a positive Record of Decision for the property under the federal FAST-41 framework, effectively wrapping up the environmental review process and kicking off early construction works.
The regulatory greenlight unlocks the next key development phase for an open-pit heap-leach mine engineered to generate an average of 130,000 ounces of gold annually over its initial five years.
Backed by a $395 million capital expenditure budget, the operation is aiming for its first gold pour in 2028. Equinox Gold President Jason Simpson highlighted that the Nevada asset serves as the first major organic step toward adding 800,000 annual ounces to the company's production profile.
