AstraZeneca subpoenaed on fraud charges
China orders arrests of suspects

Chinese authorities have subpoenaed officials from AstraZeneca China as they investigate suspected health insurance fraud by employees at the company, the National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) said on Saturday.
The regulator of the State Health Insurance Fund said authorities had ordered the arrests of all suspects, but gave no details on the alleged violations or the amount of money involved.
She called on AstraZeneca China to fill gaps in monitoring marketing activities, the NHSA added.
In a statement on Friday, the company said some employees in the southern city of Shenzhen had altered or helped edit patients' test reports and were suspected of health insurance fraud.
The NHSA and Department of Public Safety held a meeting with company officials in December to update them on the investigation, it said.
"AstraZeneca China takes such employee misconduct seriously and welcomes the recommendations of the NHSA and MOPS," it said.
A spokesman for AstraZeneca said that all employees involved in the Shenzhen case are Chinese nationals.
The company has taken disciplinary action against those employees and reported their violations to authorities, the statement said.
Authorities will launch nationwide campaigns to stop fraud involving the falsification of genetic test results, the NHSA added, urging those responsible for such violations to come forward.
