Amazon Inks 20-Year Deal with Constellation to Expand Clean Nuclear Capacity
Amazon and Constellation Energy sign a landmark 20-year power purchase agreement to add 190 megawatts of nuclear capacity at Calvert Cliffs, driving $3 billion in Maryland clean energy infrastructure.

Data centers consume electricity at a relentless pace, and cloud giants have realized that meeting their ambitious carbon-neutral goals requires round-the-clock power that weather patterns cannot disrupt. Enter nuclear energy. Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) and Constellation Energy (Nasdaq: CEG) have finalized a major 20-year power purchase agreement centered around Maryland’s landmark Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center, delivering a significant boost of zero-emission electricity to the mid-Atlantic grid.
Under the terms of the agreement, Amazon is committing to purchase 690 megawatts of power from the Lusby, Maryland facility. Crucially, the long-term contract directly underwrites state-of-the-art equipment upgrades across the plant’s entire 1,790-megawatt footprint. These efficiency uprates will add approximately 190 megawatts of brand-new, carbon-free generating capacity scheduled to come online between 2030 and 2032.
